Pincushions!

 I love pincushions!
As a quilter of over 30 years I have had many.  But there are always those special ones in any collection that a person tends to favor and set aside.
These are some of mine.
Sorry for the flash glare in that picture.  Barbara Jean at Treasures from the Heart made me the one on the right.  It's one of my very favorites!  Had to show you the top!
Next are two pillow type pincushions.  The long pink one in the back I found at an antique store and is old and used sparingly.  The beautiful white one with the children on it is from Dorothe over at Den Lille Lade .  Another of my favorites!  The cute little bird pinkeep was a gift from a friend in my quilting group.

And last I have a beautiful shell pincushion that Dawn over at The Feathered Nest made me.  The  large, round, old crazy quilt cushion I use sparingly as it getting pretty delicate.  The other round one is wool with wool applique and has a pocket for holding sewing necessities.
So there you have some of my favorites!  I will be posting Grace's finished journal next weekend for those of you who asked.
Have a great weekend!  Take care of each other!

Grace's Journal

Today I'm linking up with Stamping Ground's What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday.
This is an art journal I'm making for our 11 year old granddaughter, Grace.

Almost everything is laid out and ready to be glued and sewn.  The front cover will look something like this.  The white flower is actually a new stamp still in the package.  It will be stamped on distressed cardstock  The background fabric is canvas that has been coffee dyed and ironed.  I love the marbling look!
This is the back cover.  There will also be flowers stamped on distressed cardstock on the green fabric.  Green is Grace's favorite color!

The inside of the front cover has a pocket and the little green square will be embellished.
The inside of the back cover also has a pocket.  The tags will be covered with vintage ledger paper and the flower will be stamped on them.
The journal is 7.5" x 9.75" and I picked it up at the grocery store.
I took Gail Schmidt's Fabric and Lace Composition Journal class over at Shabby Cottage StudioVery fun!  I plan on making more of her classes!
Please leave a comment so I know you stopped by~Thanks!

Cheerios!

I love Cheerios!  They are my go-to comfort food.  Yesterday I made my hubby this delicious, easy, sweet and crunchy snack. I don't know what it's called but here's the recipe.
7 oz. cheerios
1 cup brown sugar
1 cube butter
1/4 cup lite corn syrup
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
Preheat oven to 250 degrees.  Spray or grease (butter) a cookie sheet.  Next heat sugar, butter, syrup and salt until boiling.  Then cook 2 minutes longer stirring constantly.  Remove from heat and add the baking soda.  Stir well.  Put the cheerios in a large bowl, add the hot mixture and stir again.  Place in cookie sheet, spread out and bake 15 minutes.  Cool and cut into squares.
This would be good with different cereals, raisins, nuts, dried fruit etc.
I'm finally over my double dose of bronchitis and it was great to be up and doing something fun and easy!

Beauty from Dorthe!

Well, I have started the new year off rather sick!  The cold, the cough, the headache, etc.  I'll be back on a blogging schedule soon though.  However, I just have to share this little treasure that I bought from Dorthe over at Den Lille Laden.
I was so excited to receive it that I'm amazed I remembered to take a picture before taking off the wrapping.
Inside was a pincushion I had ordered off Dorthe's Etsy store and it is even prettier in person.
Aren't the little children darling?  I also love the lace, buttons and little twigs she's used to adorn it.  I have a small collection of pincushions and am so pleased to add this one.  Just looking at it makes me happy!  Please visit Dorthe's blog.  It's a most wonderful place to sit and read and look at all her wonderful art and dolls.  She is an amazing artist and a most lovely person!

Our 14th Anniversary

Happy New Year to everyone and Happy 14th Anniversary to Craig and me.  I am so blessed to have such a wonderful husband!  Everyone loves him and he's one of those people who have no idea he is held in such high regard by others.
We met later in life and one of the best parts of our relationship is that our individual dysfunctions mesh perfectly!  Aahhh!  There wasn't a tremendous amount of changing to do to make things work...just a little shifting.  :)   I think God definitely has a sense of humor and He takes great delight in watching over his children.
Thank you Lord for your blessings!
