From Donovan With Love

As promised yesterday, here is the story about one of my dearest treasures.  It was made for me by my 29 year old son Donovan for Christmas in 2002.  I was surprised and completely stunned!  I didn't even know he could sew.  He took one beginning quilt class and jumped right in with this quilt.  No nine patches for this guy!

First came the card.

Then the quilt. Five feet square, hand appliqued and machine quilted.
At this point I was trying to hold back the tears.

Then he showed me the label on the back and that's when I lost it.  Yep, alligator tears.

It is an amazing quilt from a truly remarkable man.
Thank you Donovan!

Oh my goodness, my heart was so touched by this gesture of a son's love for his momma. For a man to take some time and effort to show love with a gift like this is an example for all sons in how to honor their mothers...truly beautiful and enjoying your new blog. :)

Hi Karen Sweetie...
Barbara Jean said to pop on over and share the love today with you. I love your blog and this quilt made by your precious son, Donovan, what a treasure. I love his label too. It is exceptional. So pretty. Nothing simple for him it appears, this is quite detailed. I wonder if he has been watching his Mom a little over the years??

I am Country Wings in Phoenix, your newest follower. Please stop by and say hi. I would love to have you follow as well. I love meeting new friends and I love sharing. Hope your weekend is a beautiful one sweet friend.
